HARLEM’S ODYSSEY: A SERIES

WHAT IS IT?

In short, this series is a bit of fun.

Harlem’s Odyssey is a comedic fantasy series centered on the adventures (and misadventures) of up-and-coming hero, Harlem Sunday, as he makes his way across the imagined world of Land. It’s your classic hero’s journey, featuring a not-so-classic hero, which leans so heavily into the cliches and tropes that you know and love so much that it often loses balances and falls right through them altogether.

If you’re after a little bit of humor, want an easy, page-turning read, and love all things fantasy, than this book is for you.

HOW MANY OF THESE ARE THERE?

At the moment, there is just the one, but that won’t be the case for much longer. The second book is due to come out at the end of November. And my goal is to write five of these all together, each one centered around Harlem Sunday as he finds himself in the middle of a new, daring adventure.

But don’t think you have to read these in order, either. Although they do tell an arching story that will see Harlem Sunday grow and change and develop as a hero as his story continues, they are written in a manner that will allow you to pick up any you choose and dive right into without fear of being lost or confused. We wouldn’t want that.

WHAT’S THE PURPOSE OF THESE BOOKS?

Although I’ve written somewhere in the vicinity of 150+ novels, this is my first foray into self-publishing and I feel that the Harlem’s Odyssey series is perfect for this new venture. They’re a blast to write, the possibilities for what they can become are endless, and as I navigate the confusing world of self-publishing, I know that these books are a perfect stepping stone for me to find my way.

As far as you’re concerned, good reader, the purpose should be obvious. These books are meant to be a fun read and nothing more. Not too long. Fast moving chapters. Quick plotting. A coherent story. Highly absurd and amusing to boot. If you’re in the mood for some light reading without hurting yourself, then I highly recommend.

HOW LONG IS THIS GOING TO TAKE?

That’s a good question and, like most good questions, there are no easy answers. My goal is to have all five books written in a little over fourteen months from the release of the first one. If I can do that, then I feel that I’ll be in track when it comes to writing my next series.
